The Wayfarer Restaurant Business Profile:

via Yelp

"The Wayfarer's like that perfectly broken-in pair of jeans... reliably comfortable. Tucked away in sleepy Cape Porpoise, ME, it's the perfect location for a mid-week family meal when no one feels like cooking, as well as nice Sunday morning breakfast/brunch locale.

The decor is sort of a cottage-style diner. Tables, booths and counter service, white cottage-style woodwork. Very comfortably casual. The service and vibe of the whole place is similarly relaxed, including the alcohol policy -- one of the few BYOB restaurants you'll find in this area. That alone goes a long way to keeping the prices here very moderate.

The menu is pure comfort food. There's a consistent special for dinner every night (our favorites are the Thursday night Pot Roast and Friday night BBQ Ribs), some house specialties such as their lobster stew and crab cakes, and some innovative specials every night (recent examples are lobster mac & cheese and teriyaki steak sliders). There's always an expansive menu of sinful homemade desserts to cap the meal and expand the waistline.

The waitstaff has been friendly and attentive every time we've been in, and chef/owner Brandy always makes it a point to make her way out of the kitchen and check on the happiness of the diners... a nice, friendly touch.

Bottom line, this is comfort food in every sense of the phrase --- pretty much like eating at home without having to cook, clean up or even get out of that easy chair to get the food. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious. Nice."
